The First Week!

So I have been in Stavanger six days now! It is great here. We have been in a "heat wave" and it looks like we have finally broken out of it today! It is cool and we have had some scattered showers. It is currently 66F/19C.

On Saturday we went to this festival in the sentrum, it was rather cool. It was called Gladmat, and was a food festival. There was an art show in a park next to the sentrum that had huge amazing photos of animals. We bought some strawberries and cherries, they were so good. They tasted like what they did when I was a kid! wow! On Sunday we went to the ocean.. it is about a ten minute walk from the house. The water was freezing at first, but we adjusted quickly to it. It is such a laid back and relaxed society here... when we went to get in the water we left everything just laying there.. camera, keys, all of it... I love that it is so safe here. It is a little bit of a adjustment from what I am used to.

I have just been out walking around while Ole is at work, exploring... it is amazing that you really can walk anywhere you would need to go. There is a Coop (grocery store) 3 blocks away, another one that is a bit larger called Europris that is like a ten minute walk, the sentrum is probably a ten to fifteen minute walk. I am sure that once I get used to walking everywhere that the amount of time it takes to get there will go down too. I am really enjoying walking everywhere... though it is kicking my butt... I am just not used to it. Someday I will get a bike, but for now my feet will do just fine! More updates are to come soon, photos are up on my flickr!
